History

The college was originally established in 1984 under Calicut University and was transferred in 1996 to the newly formed Kannur University with its assets. The name of the B.Ed. centre was changed to University Teacher Education Centre at Chovva, Kannur District.   After the completion of the new academic building at Dharmasala Campus, the institution was renamed and started functioning as Department of Teacher Education, Dharmasala, Kannur District from 2007 onwards under School of Pedagogical Sciences, Kannur University. From 2017 onwards it is renamed as Kannur University Teacher Education Centre, Dharmasala.
